Citrix users can't change password at login.


I have a xen app 6 server farm. running windows 2008 r2. Everything is fully patched.

Users of the citrix online plugin and users of my igel thin clients can't change there password at login when they have expired or set to change at first login.

They are configured to go to the services site PNAgent. and the auth method there is set to prompt (default) with the password change options selected. I previously had this set to Dc and farm as fall back but i have now change it to farm only. This change seemed to work for a day or so but users are reporting the same issue again.

on the online plugin users receive an error saying they cannot connect to change the password. on the igels they report that password could not be changed at this time please contact your administrator.

Can you check if this id your case:
Are those users using Web interface to launch the applications or preconfigured online plugin with the URL? Yes, please also check if you have configured same server farm setting for the web URL also. Ask the online plugin users to log-off and login back to the plugin after the change. If problem persists then please ask those users to try from a desktop/laptop using online plugin instead of thin client.

The users are connective via preconfigured online plugin, its pointing at the pnagent services site. There internal to the network.

user accounts aren't set with any lockouts or password never expires etc users can change there passwords.

the message im getting now is

Password expired, but unable to establish connection for password change.

I have found a citrix article with the exact issue of yours, albeit it is related to an old product: Web Interface 2.0 with MetaFrame XP.

Although this is the case, still reading it might provide you the solution for your case. Give it a try; I believe this would be your issue:

The issue with the pc's turned out to need a private hotfix from citrix and the igels started working after that as long as they had the latest firmware. cheers for all your suggestions
