Unfortunately not, free ESXi 5.1 cannot be added or managed by vCenter Server.

But purchase a vSphere Essentials license at approx $500. This gives you three ESXi licenses for 2 cpu, and vCenter Server.

So I will be required to use console commands to create and manage VMs?  No other options exist other than the $500.00 dollar license?

    Accepted Solution

you can still use and connect to the free hypervisor using the vSphere Client to Manage and Create VMs.

Maybe you are getting confused with vSphere Client and vSphere Server?
