I have been running outlook 2003 for almost 2 years using a gmail account using IMAP setup with no problems.  About 1 month ago I all of a sudden keep getting the following error. "Your IMAP server has closed the connection. This may occur if you have left the connection idle for too long."  also then when I try to access anything I get the following message "Can't open this item. This IMAP command could not be sent before the connection was terminated." This happens when I am in the middle of using it. I have already tried increasing the timeout period - it is still happening constantly. Any clues what to do next?

Sorry 'bout that.

The ports are right. Have you gone through the checklist on this page?
