# Subtotal formula

Is it possible to return the most common value in text via the subtotal function?

To count the cells would be =SUBTOTAL(3,H9:H60000)

The average function wouldn't work because it would deal with numbers. Alternatively is it possible to display the most common number?

try this

=INDEX(H9:H60000,MATCH(MAX(COUNTIF(H9:H60000,H9:H60000)),COUNTIF(H9:H60000,H9:H60000),0),)

entered as an array formula with Ctrl+shift+enter

Formula for most Common Number:
=MODE.SNGL(<Range>)

Example:
