AOL Instant Messaging - new user cannot send/receive messages
We have a new AOL Instant Messaging (AIM) user. One of our employees has been able to send a message to the new user, but the rest of the staff cannot, nor can the new user send to the staff, except for the one user.
The new user is listed as "off line" for the staff, and the staff is "off line" for the new user.
Any idea how to fix this? I've re-installed AIM, checked privacy settings and checked every other configuration, but cannot resolve the issue. Plus, why can one staff member communicate while the rest cannot? We all have the same antivirus configuration from a central server, so that shouldn't be the problem.

Just a hunch, but are you using AIM Group Chat? It may be that certain users can't see each other because they aren't in the same groups.

No, we don't use group chat. The new user is always listed under the Offline section.

Have you tried deleting the "Offline" users from the buddy list and manually re-adding them?

Thanks for the follow up and feedback. Yes, it sounded tricky so I was thinking that maybe some user error was involved.
