Database Updater

I'm using Tony's Auto FE Updater to give 22 people a copy of the database on their local PC which is replaced each time they open it.  I'm using the trial version which is now outdated.  Each time the user opens the database they get a message about the updater trial being over.

Is there a better altenative to Tony's solution?  I don't want a bunch of people getting into the one database on the network all at once.  The data is in SQL so that's not an issue.

Please advise.

AutoFEUPdater is probably the most widely used tool of its type.

I don't understand your comment " I don't want a bunch of people getting into the one database on the network all at once.".  I don't see what this has to do with the front-end updater?

I see it as, an alternative to using AutoFEUPdater would be having users open the database on the nework.

You're saying you are giving each user a copy of the full database including data?

So the users are not doing any data entry then?

No.  I'm using AutoUpdater to distribute the database and the data in connected via ODBC to SQL.

I want to know if there is another way to share the database out to users; an altenative to AutoUpdater.

What's the problem with AutoFEUpdater- as I said, it's easily the most commonly used tool.

So, why not just *buy* the new version ??

I have to convice my management to pay the $175.  It's not much for what it provides.  It's just that some people here don't want to pay for such things.

sad. I'm sure they have already lost more than $175 on non productivity time because the trial has run out :-)

Well ... Tony's app is pretty much the de-facto standard for this sort of thing.  You can always roll your own like I did ... if you have the time.

The app still runs for some reason.  The message that the trial version has ended comes up and the user clicks OK and the database opens.
