Samsung S3 upgrade question

To start out I have had an iPhone since the first one came out. I now have the 4. I am thinking of getting a GalaxyS3 but have a few questions:

1. How can I connect the phone to the much of iPhone docs I have stereo, car, Yamaha iPhone stereo doc?

2. What about My paid for Apps in iTunes? Do I just for get about those?

3. Can I still auto upload my photos to MS SkyDrive or Google Plus?

4. I keep hearing there is a virus/malware for Android, is this something to worry about? Do I need an AV program

5. Is there crapware I need to uninstall like there is when I buy a PC?

Thanks,

First off, great decision on taking the switch to the Galaxy S3.  Its an awesome phone!

1. How can I connect the phone to the much of iPhone docs I have stereo, car, Yamaha iPhone s accepts tereo doc?
If your device accpets a standard 1/8mini plug (headphone jack) then that would be the easiest method.  Most of those devices accepts two types of input (standard) and the iphone dock connector.  If your device does not have the standard (headphone jack connector) than you will need to purchase an adapter.  Like this:  http://www.gottabemobile.com/2011/07/20/how-to-connect-your-android-phone-to-ios-dock-accessories-revisited/

2. What about My paid for Apps in iTunes? Do I just for get about those?
Yes, your paid for Apps in iTunes will only be good for iOS devices.  Sorry about that.

3. Can I still auto upload my photos to MS SkyDrive or Google Plus?
Yes.  This works using the built in Google Plus app in the iphone.  There is also a SkyDrive app in the play store.  These are all free.  Dropbox is another solution, but SkyDrive, Google Plus work fine!

4. I keep hearing there is a virus/malware for Android, is this something to worry about? Do I need an AV program
No.  You do not need one.  Viruses and malware are VERY, VERY rare.  Just download from trusted sources (google play store) and you will be fine!

5. Is there crapware I need to uninstall like there is when I buy a PC?
Not really.  You can always uninstall Apps and disable what you don't like.  Samsung does have a UI called Touchwiz which is added on top of the regular Google OS.  Some people love it, others prefer the native Google experience.  I think it is good.  The Galaxy S3 is an awesome phone, and I honestly believe you will be happy with the purchase.  Glad I could help.

There are several free ringtone application on the Play Store.  I highly suggest Zedge:  https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=net.zedge.android&feature=search_result#?t=W251bGwsMSwxLDEsIm5ldC56ZWRnZS5hbmRyb2lkIl0.

Otherwise, you can use any mp3 to use as a ringtone.  Unlike iphone ringtones on android can be mp3's.

1. 1/8" works on everything with a AUX port.
2. You don't need much other than the Galaxy Player. I have come to love the factory app.
3. Google Plus comes standard on the SIII, along with all the other authentic Google apps.
4. I've seen a lot of apps for AV, but I see more adware than anything. Then again, what do you expect from an OS that is almost entirely free. You won't need a AV.
5. No crapware. Most of the apps that are factory set are not that bad. My version of the SIII came with Allshare and Airsync. Both are great apps. I like how I can play my music on an Apple TV, Xbox, PS3, etc.

Ringtone wise, you can just set your MP3 songs to play as a notification or a ringtone without having to use an app.

I made a "Alien" (the movie) theme that has buttons, live wallpaper, and lock screens. Maybe I'll consider putting it on the Play Store. Oh, and the Prometheus sound for my notifications turns heads.

Oh yeah, there are several podcast players available for Android.  One of the more popular ones is doubletwist player:

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.doubleTwist.androidPlayer&feature=search_result#?t=W251bGwsMSwxLDEsImNvbS5kb3VibGVUd2lzdC5hbmRyb2lkUGxheWVyIl0.

Also, if you don't know by now you can search and read reviews for android apps on the google play store.  (Its Googles version of the App Store for mac).

Yes, you can get your photos out of icloud.

If you have an apple computer, just copy the pictures to your computer.  Then, when you get your Android phone copy them to your device.

Yeah, it's great not having restrictions on the Android OS. Open source is so great. I love how you have the option to expand the memory. I have 32gb total on my SIII, so I don't even have to carry a flash drive. I don't really have a need for cloud since it holds just about everything I want on a mobile scale (music, docs, pictures, and even back up files for my desktops without having to use B.S iTunes). Take that Apple!
