Needing Help From a Wordpress Master

New to WordPress and recently acquired a few WordPress sites. I have been able to make little changes here and there but this most recent request, which should be a very simple one, has turned my mind into mush. All I want to do is change the path of one hyperlink that points to a PDF file but I cant find the hyperlink ANYWHERE to update it. WP would lead me to believe that it is part of a side bar but it lies!

Please help!

Site in question is mecemployee.com

Link in question is the employee handbook on the bottom right.

Thanks again!

That area would appear to be part of a widget.  Appearance | Widgets would be the place to look first.  Was that where you were?

Yes I looked at the widgets there is only two that are active links and text. It's not in links and the test is for the orange support button we have on the right side.

Okay, they may have hardcoded that instead of using a widget.  Go to Appearance | Editor and on the right you should have an entry for sidebar.php.  Select that and in the editing window look for the code.

I assume that means they hardcoded it :)

If I were you I would convert that hardcode to the standard Text widget.  It can handle HTML tags so you can get the image in place as well as the link to the PDF and the next developers will thank you for it.

Thanks for the tip. Do you know of any good resources for WP info? We just had a new site built for our company and the development company used WP. It's pretty straight froward it seems but fixing a hyperlink shouldn't have taken me an hour.

The best place to start is the Codex:

http://codex.wordpress.org/Getting_Started_with_WordPress

You might want to skip the really beginner-level stuff and jump down to Design and Layout and the sections that follow it.  That will give you a good overview of WordPress structure and functions.

After that, you can always post here...we have several people who are very good with WordPress.  Also try the WP Beginner site for a lot of good tutorials.
