I've created an index using these instructions in my report:

This works but my list is in page# order  I want it to be in Alphabetical order..
it is like this:
Reeds   3
Double Reeds 6
Reed Guards 7
Clarinet Mouthpices 8

I want it like this:
Clarinet Mouthpieces 8
Double Reeds 6
Reeds  3
Reed Guards 7

Can I do this?

    Accepted Solution

The instructions you followed build a Table of COntents which is expected to be in page order.

To get them in alphabetical order you will have to "sort" the strings.

You can use SPLIT to create an array from the string
Sort the array then use JOIN to rejoin the array into a single string

I will try to develop a formula later.

I sorted like you suggested.  So, in my report all of the headings are now in alpha order which then of course the Table of Contents is in the same order.

    This might work out.
