How to Test a SSL Cert

I have an ssl cert for  I will be migrating to to a new web server.  Is there a way i can migrate and test the ssl cert on the new server before updating my dns records?

    Accepted Solution

    on the new server update the host file so that points to it's public IP.  Hit it on the server using the address.

    You can also update your host file on a different machine for the same thing.  When you hit the hosts file will override any dns entries.

    Hosts file is located in:


    Open hosts with notepad, follow the format for localhost.
