Tables exist but don't showup in database

This is very weird!  Tables seem it have been dropped, but they are actually there -- I can query them.   The tables are osdial_list and osdial_lists.

I also do not see them when I ls -l /var/lib/mysql/osdial, whether I'm root or mysql, but as you can see, I can query the tables.

I am way confused.  Anyone have any ideas?

    Should they exist or not?
    Try a repair on the db.

    I was going to try fsck on next reboot, but the local admin restored from noon backup before reboot, so everything was lost.  (Happily I dumped the tables I could query but not see, but now the db integrity will require a LOT of work.  Arggg ...
