Replacement firewall for TMG 2010

We currently have a TMG 2010 firewall.
Now that Microsoft have announced that they will retire much of their Forefront protection range, we will have to look into a replacement firewall rather than buying more TMG licences as and when needed.

One of the biggest sales features of TMG 2010 was its application and network-layer firewall and HTTP/HTTPS inspection.
Are there any other firewalls that provide those features? Do any of the newer Cisco firewalls have it and is it really necessary?
In fact how do the newer Cisco firewall compare to TMG?

Thanks for all your input.

Where does Microsoft announce  to retire forefront TMG ?

A good replacement for TMG is McAfee web washer, it provides all web filtering and a good proxy... but no VPN or web/server publishing. its only a web proxy.

I'm not familiar with TMG, but I have worked quite a bit with Watchguard firewalls and it sounds as though they might fit your requirements. Watchguard has lots of different software options to add functionality such as antivirus/antispam filtering, VPNs, web filtering, proxy, application control, etc., and works with AD so that you don't have to add user accounts to the firewall itself.  Although I work with small firms, they appear to have appliances for a wide range of purposes from small company to enterprise-level needs.

We need to be careful with this - what has been announced is that TMG will not be taken past 2015 in regards to development - it stays in extended support till 2020 after that. A fair question will be 'what is happening with the MRS service that TMG uses to get its definition updates etc'

I've now found the answer; Cisco's latest offering is called Cisco ASA CX Context-Aware... and it provides application layer filtering along with other advanced features.
Thanks for your comments anyway.
