Is is possible to upgrade server 2003 enterprise to sbs 2011 essentials?
I know you can upgrade SBS 2003 to 2011 Essentials, but can you also do this is 2003 Enterprise?

That depends on how many users and PC's. AD would have to be completely recreated with all users, PC's rejoined to the network, and user profiles imported as well as moving data. If only a few users, starting fresh I agree would be much easier.

I am using the same Server, just installing newer software.
Its not "just" :-) This is not like upgrading from XP to Vista. There is no upgrade option.
How many users and PC's?

Especially if you're going to use the same hardware, then you can't upgrade, you would have a hard time even keeping your domain intact. You'd have to at least add another DC so that your domain could function properly.
Thatis the advantage of the swingmigration.com process it always uses a temporary DC (can be a PC) for the migration which allows migrating to same hardware. However it's a long process and if less than 8-10 users and not familiar with the process, its' probably easier to backup data and start from scratch

swingmigration.com is great, however I don't think it's necessary in your scenario. Can you provide me the total storage you'd be needing as well as the specs on the current server.
