microsoft 70-685

I'm studying for the 70-685 exam and it's very discouraging. For 18 years I have fixed computers – and for the last 9 years I was a system admin. I found solutions and was able to accomplish what my users wanted, but when I take the Kaplan practice test, I do terrible.
For instance there are LOTS of performance monitor counters, and there were several questions about it. Are we really supposed to remember ALL the millions for performance monitor settings? And that is just the performance monitor, there’s registry hives, group policy settings, etc. That’s a LOT of stuff. In the past I would always look this type of information up, because I always felt no one could remember all of it.  Maybe I’m just too stupid to remember so much stuff. Has anyone found a good way to remember so much material for this exam?

When you take an exam you're basically signing an NDA stating you won't reveal much if anything about it.  All I can say is no, you're not expected to remember everything. The tests are pass/fail.  And you don't necessarily know if pass is "50%" or "80%" correct.  Or somewhere in between.

If you know it well and study the stuff detailed in Skills Measured, then you should do fine.

I know you can't reveal anything, I was asking

"Has anyone found a good way to remember so much material for this exam? "

at no point did I ask what was on the test.
I'm hoping other people had memory techniques that would help, because there is a lot to know.
maybe I should phrase it differently if there is a question - which I don't know how there is a question since I didn't ask what was on the test
What was the most help to study for the test - I am using the Kaplan practice test - has anyone found better study guides? Is Kaplan as good as any other study guides? But I would also like to know if anyone has good memory techniques. Mostly I just try to repeat things, but there must be better ways.
