ATT routers are sometimes locked to certain settings and not changeable by the user (to keep us from shutting off our TV and having to call them out to figure it out.)  To avoid all the pitfalls that come with ATT Uverse, I set up a seperate router (insert favorite brand here) and run my network off of it.  It goes into a port from the ATT router and that port is DMZ'd so as to allow all my traffic, depending only on the (favorite brand) router I have setup to filter traffic, firewall, etc.  The TV's stay on the Uverse router.

I don't need to worry about TV's since I am setting this up at my house and we only use AT&T for DSL internet and we don't use AT&T for TV.

We just use the new digital antennas to pick up TV stations.

I also called AT&T Uverse and had them unblock port 25 on their servers, which they block by default.
