I am wondering what might be done to improve reception when i am watching my friends Slingbox.
I am using wifi on my end. Would a direct network cable connection dramatically improve things? Are there any other optins on my end or theirs that could improve reception quality? Thanks..

are you on the same network, or is this traffic going over the Internet ?

A wired connection is always the ideal... A powerline network is one approach you could use. Or you could try to see if there is an issue involving interference where your the slingbox is. Is the WiFi coverage as a whole bad near the slingbox location?

Two things. First, it depends on the quality of the connection on the sending end. You don't say which Slingbox it is (there are many models), but the connections may be composite (low quality), s-video (medium quality), or component (high quality). Second, your instincts are correct about wired vs. wireless on the receiving end - the Internet connection speed really matters. Here's a support article at the Slingbox site that discusses it: http://support.slingbox.com/get/KB-5000040.html
I believe the slingbox is connected direct to the modem on their end. I am accessing it on y end via wireless. Perhaps I should use a direct connection on my side then?

if this is over the internet, is your wirelsss connection faster than your internet connection ?

Wired connections are better suited for streaming. What type of internet service do you have? What is your download speed?
