How can I configure reverse DNS on Exchange 2010 so that it matches the SMTP Banner?

How can I configure reverse DNS on Exchange 2010 so that it matches the SMTP Banner?

I just got done installing Exchange 2010 for an organization.

When I go to MXtoolbox.com and run an SMTP test all the tests pass except that I get the following message: "Warning - Reverse DNS does not match SMTP Banner."

Please provide me with the exact steps on what I need to do to fix this.

Sulimanw,

I have already registered the MX and A records with Godaddy.com to the public IP address of my company on the internet.

So in other words I just need to logon to my Godaddy.com account and then add a PTR record to my domain name that has the same public IP address that is already registered as the MX and A resource record?

I just want to make sure that I am doing the right thing so that I can get this issue resolved properly without creating any further problems.

OK, just to verify:

The ISP that is being used is AT&T Uverse.

So I need to call AT&T Uverse and ask them to add this PTR record?

What will be the IP address of the PTR record? Is it the same IP address as the external IP address for the company I am setting this record up with?

I just want to make sure that I am doing the right thing.

Thank you for your help.
