Hey there, I Have a 2008 Domain controller and I created a fresh GPO with some user settings changed and linked it into a container. I then put a user int he container also, and ran resultant wizard, but only Default Domain Policy comes back for the user GPO applied.
I have tried quite a few changes, but cannot get my new policy to take hold to the user, why?

Yes, on the box I am trying to make this work, wouldn't the GPO wiard show me the correct application even if the box had not updated?

Run the command gpresult / r and check which policy are applied. If some policy not apply then run the command gpudate /force. If the issue still persists then check event viewer logs.

Yes, the wizard should show you how policy would apply without actually forcing the update on the machine. I think the problem is you want to use the Group Policy Modeling wizard not the results wizard. From what i can tell the results wizard is machine only. The modeling wizard has a section for user information and allows you to select the container your users are in or the user account itself. It will then tell you how GP will apply to that user no matter what machine they log on to (assuming that machine is on the domain of course).
