Newly Connected Sever Will Not Share ACT 2012 Data?

We have a new "server"--running Windows 7 Professional.  No security software except for MSE.  No firewall except basic Microsoft one.  We have a new workstation running Windows XP Professional--again, same, MSE and firewall.  We have setup ACT on the "server" and shared it.  We try to open the PAD file on the workstation and it says it is not shared.  This is not a complicated network setup--just a UVerse router and switch--and it worked on a previous setup--both computers had to be reloaded.  We have checked SQL, protocols, server paths, everything.  This shouldn't be this hard on a small network with two NEW computers.  Advise?

Have you shared the ACT! database on the server?

It does NOT need to be in the root ... it can be anywhere.

But, it's a bit tricky to get the permissions right (not done automatically) if it's in a user folder.

I posed to the ACT forum as well and got my answer there.  I successfully implemented it.
