This may be a silly question, but i have just taken over managing a SBS2011 network. The previous contractor has installed SEP Manager on the SBS server but has not deployed a client package on the server itself.
I am relatively new to the Symantec product & i noticed there are a couple of client package editions i can select to deploy in SEP manager
.
Common sense tells me to deploy the 'Server package', however after speaking to the previous contractor, he says he deploys the 'client' package, which i assumed would be for desktops etc.
Is this true? Which package is the best to deploy to the SBS server itself?
Thanks in advance.

you install the client that works with the server just as if it were installed on a workstation, the "client" is used to communicate with the "Server Package" it's misleading because you're installing the client on the server.
The answer is more simple - you don't. SEP is, IMHO, an inferior product which will not only slow down your server but also eat up as much space as it can. I took the SEP client off my server (2003 r2) and saved over a gigabyte of space not to mention gaining a significant amount of resources. I now run the GFI Vipre client on the server.
The ESET NOD32 client is just as light and the console is the best one around. The GFI console is second best.
Let me know if I need to clarify
