GUI Recommendations "Standards", PC Application
Are there any guidelines for recommended form size (width in particular), button, icon size, font size per monitor resolution? … minimizing use of development code in making adjustments. What about font type in general?
Is it in general a good idea “now a days” to develop using 800 x 600 resolution for a PC app?

Thanks Brook. Outside of development, what resolution do you use for personal use?

Depends on what the application is for.
If it is a tool bar then as small as possible without making it unusable.
For a small entry type application, picking dates or clocking in to a manufacturing job and display others tasks then likely 800x600. for a full application I stay with 1024x768

What I'm looking for is to decide on a good base form size, etc. that will minimize resizing, regurtitaing, and risk possible distortion.
I did some research before I posted this question. Your response pretty reverberates much of what I have found on the internet .. in addition to known issues that it can be very tricky to get right resize behavior.
I have pretty much decided to develop in 1024x768 resolution with possibly a max form size of 9 or 10". I would also like to know if there is any particular screen resoltuion is more predominantly used than others.
What is your screen resolution set at?...
Thanks for your response and no doubt, good advice. I'm going to hold out here and see if anyone else has any additional thoughts.
