I have an application that I am trying to connect to a SQL server database but I keep getting an error that it cannot connect?

I am using windows authentication on the application wizard and on the SQL server.

The user account that I am putting into the wizard is on the sql server and is not disabled and seems to have the same permissions as the sa account which is disabled.

What is windows authentication comparing?

I can telnet to the sql server on port 1433 and it seems the port is open.

Does the accounts that are in the log on tab for the sql server services have anything to do with the windows authentication?

It seems like it should be easy to connect as both the sql server and the client computer are members of the same domain.

I think that I know the general steps to follow but I am new to sql administration so I probably having some huge gaps in my knowledge.

I got it working before using sql authentication which I guess has less configuration and things to go wrong.

Just had to enable the sa account, make sure both sides were using sql authentication and the same username and password and it connected.
