Intermittent Issues With Blackberry Internet Service

Good Day All,

I've been experiencing the following issues with end users sending and receiving mail from their BIS accounts on Blackberry Bold devices (9650 and above):

At times users are unable to send mail from their Blackberry devices with their corporate email account. The message bounces back with a "General Failure" message. At other times users can successfully send out company mail from their Blackberrys.

Incoming mail to the Blackberrys are sometimes delayed for several hours, then a batch comes in all at once. At other times the delay is only a few moments at best.

Our email server is GroupWise Version 6.5.4. Our firewall is Watchguard X1250e. Our ISP is Megapath. We have an 3Mbps Ethernet over Copper circuit. The mail server has an external address on this circuit.

I can supply additional details if needed,

Thanks for any assistance offered.

Appreciate the response. I did some research into Groupwise integration with BIS and a document I found shows that a maximum time for the GW server to respond with a login prompt is 15s.
When I tested the connection to my mail server via IMAP it took over a minute. I think my firewall is causing problems. I'll look into that next. And yes I did delete and reinstall the service books. Thanks again.
FWIW...

You are running an extremely old version of GroupWise - there have been three major version releases since v6. Version 8 and above come with additional mobile sync components that would support your non-BB devices and give you a migration path to the newer phones (including BB with BBOS10) via ActiveSync.
