XBOX 360 failing to connect to XBOX Live
I'm trying connect to XBOX Live.
Our modem/router Firewall is temporarily OFF to eliminate any possible port filtering interference. I'm connecting via WiFi N through our Time Warner Motorola modem router to eliminate any cabling, switch, or Ethernet issues.
Every time I try to connect a profile to XBOX Live I get "connect failed / test connection". I test the connection and it's all good (all network status items are connected, all live status items are up).
Any suggestions based on your experience with a similar issue?

tpgriffin, thanks for the update, good to hear your fixed.
(also thanks for points :D)
Please remember we can't see your system so have to make a load of assumptions at the outset based on what you tell us. For me at least this was, here's a SoHo user probably with a modem issue so lets start some diagnostics. A 25 machine GB LAN isn't really most people's home network & knowing more about your infrastructure would have helped get us focused along with the direct cabled result.
What I'm really saying is as a general rule in forums like these try to provide as much info as you can about your issue - sometimes stuff that you think might not be relevant really, really is.
Not in any way a criticism, just trying to help you get the best out of us in the future.
Happy gaming :)

The XBOX 360 is now connected to a 10/100 router (on a separate subnet) to the room gigabit switch to the the main house gagabit switch to the Cable Modem so no direct connection anymore. The direct connection helped a bit but XBOX Live was still unreliable. Only when the XBOX got a separate subnet did XBOX Live become reliable.

The Expert Comments will be helpful for other users but in the end our solution was completely different.
