Encryption problems after virus infection

I'm struggling to recover my files. I have some folders with sensitive data which I encrypted using Microsoft's Encrypting File System (EFS). Somehow my computer got infected with the Karagany Virus, even though I had Forefront loaded (the antivirus my company uses). I was able to remove the infection, but now am unable to access the encrypted files. I get a message saying access is denied.

I had backed up my EFS certificate to a flash drive, but I still get the same message even after I import it. I had my files backed up to an external hard drive, but they were encrypted there are well, and I'm getting access is denied there too.

I am running Windows 7.

Do I have any hope of getting my files back? Any help would be greatly appreciated!
