Simplifying a large query

Hello team,

I am facing a very large query that takes too long to complete.  It contains 12 JOINS, several sub queries and many conditions.  Its confidential work product so I cannot share it.  What is the best method to streamline it's functionality?

ASKER

I've used the techniques described above to isolate the slowness.  There were effectively duplicate JOINs which were adding overhead.  The fact that the database has a gazillion records (all Earths hard disks + some from Mars) does not help.

Thanks
