Busy cursor when using Outlook and Word

Hi - I'm running Windows 7 Pro and Office 2010. Today when I'm using Outlook I'm getting a busy cursor appearing a couple of times every second and this is also happening in Word (once it's started in Outlook). I've run a virus scan and nothing showed up and I've repaired Office 2010 from the Programs control panel but this has had no effect. Any ideas what's up? (IE is working fine while I'm writing this message - but if I switch to Outlook or Word it continues).

Hi Vicky19

Yep, I restarted a couple of times.

I've checked the updates and nothing has been added recently.

I've also looked to see what apps I've installed - and there aren't any of those either.

Cheers
Ed

Hi again Apache09

I've tried the remedies you suggest but with no luck. I have identified that Outlook is a red-herring as Word exhibits this behaviour after a restart without Outlook being run. Your point regarding a sync related issue is possibility as my 'my docs' is virtualised onto a network drive - however, I am unaware of any network changes prior to this happening and no other users have reported it. Baffling - any other suggestions??

Thanks
Ed
If you docs are redirected to a network share

COuld you possibly get your Sys Admin to temporarily remove the re-direction so you can test?
Mmmm - sounds like a plan, however we're in the great scenario where the sys admin is me but we're using a server config that I didn't configure (ie understand) as we bought in a guy for a couple of days to do it a while back.

This has only just just started happening and I haven't fiddled with the server config at all, either just prior or subsequently. I appreciate something must have changed  but I just don't know where to start looking. Any ideas??
