Outlook 2010 unable to access Rules and Alerts

Hello,

Today I am unable to access my rules and alerts from within Outlook 2010. I can access Accounts Settings, Automatic Replies, and Mailbox Cleanup fine, just not Rules and Alerts. I get this error popup:

"Microsoft Exchange is not available. Either there are network problems or the Exchange server is down for maintenance."

Of course none of this is true, as everything else works fine. Any ideas?

Thank you.

Restart the client machine and check again :)

Seems, your rules are outdated / corrupted or simply not in a mood to work.

Export rules and recreate your OL profile OR simply export rules and open OL with switch

Outlook /cleanrules (this would delete all your rules)

Once you find that there are no more errors, import those rules and you're all set.

Entire exercise shouldn't take more than 5 minutes.

This issue was fixed by removing the email account I didn't provide credentials for from my profile.
