centOS 6.3 server install as quest VM ESXi 5.1

1 physical box(PE R710) hardware RAID5 via Perc Dell controller.
same box with 560g of space(comprised of the three drive Raid5) = datastore1

have three existing VM guest, windows 64 servers.

I need to intsall a small linux server, Centos 6.3. HD 20 g with 2g RAm. Using the ISO dvd 1 I downloaded

The install is prompting me  basic or specialized storage?  Not a SAN so picked basic, but says the storage device below may contain daa vmware virtual disk 20480.00 mb pci-0000:00:10.0-scsi-0:0:0:0.  We could not detect partitions or filesystems on this device.  Selecting the option to keep data throws me to the 'no usable disks have been found' exit installer.

What am I missing?  Thx

If it's found the Storage Controller, with a partition, of 20GB, you should be able to overwrite the partition and continue the installation.

When creating the VM server template, which Storage Controller did you select?

Try changing the storage controller in the VM to a Buslogic?

actually recommended to not use the Buslogic... i'm on version 5.1.0 esxi and installing CentOs 6.3 64bit.  I had it set to LSI Logic Parallel.  Changing it to LSI Logic SAS  to see what differs if anything...

okay, still original issue with post.  Can't afford to accidently void the virtuals I have running and trying to load this linux guest.  What am I not doing right or need to be doing to get past this? Is this not doable on the three SAS drives I have setup as a RAID5 using hardware Dell Perc hw raid.   The result being my one datastore avail to ESXi.

???
