No Customization Process on vCenter 5.1

Hi all,

I am facing a problem cloning / deployment templates under vmware.

When I called the service customization, I fill all fields and uses a customization existing machine cloned or deployed from a template starts, the network is cut as usual stages of cloning, however, no customization or sysprep is started.

I tried to reinstall my vCenter different forms (on a server 2008 R2 Standard on a Server 2008 R2 Datacenter Edition, or even via the OVF appliance offered by vmware. Nothing works. while I log on Machine no sysprep process is launched.

I also tried different Windows isos downloaded directly from the VLSC (2008 R2 Standard Edition 2008 R2 Standard Edition with SP1, 2008 R2 Datacenter Edition ...)

However, some files are embedded in the machine freshly cloned into the directory "C: \ Windows \ Temp" in the form of TMP files including customization settings. But nothing starts.

I saw some people having the problem solved like me with some options such as:

Blank password on the administrator account
Reset the power of the VM
Recreating template
Again nothing works for me.

I use the latest available version of vCenter: 5.1.0-880471
The ESXi are all up to date via UpdateManager

vpxd log files are not very talkative: i've noticed only some line interesting :

after cloning, have you waited for the process to start?

ASKER

yes i have waiting one night to be sure. and thant don't launch.

additionaly i have found this in log vpxd log file :

2012-11-05T18:52:06.205+01:00 [03392 info 'vmcheckclusterChecker' opID=HB-host-10@209-5504a029] [CheckChangePropertiesInt] Property Modified config.tools.pendingCustomization

is like the customization is pending. the files tmp used for the customization stay on the vm. But no launching.

I know forhave managed a lot of vcenter previously, if you log on the vm and launch taskmanager you see the process "sysprep.exe" running. Here nothing.

Are you running vCenter 5.1 build 799735? If so, this version contained a number of bugs that were fixed in 5.1 build 880471 which was released on 10/25/2012
Hello compdigit44,

has mentionned on my post :

"I use the latest available version of vCenter: 5.1.0-880471"

but thanks for this information.

Can you please reward some points for pointing in you in the directory of a bug with the vCenter version at least.
I have the same issue when I want to create template with Vcenter 5.1. When I create my template nothing happens, the sysprep process doesn't start, the computer is not renaming. I 'm using version ESX 5.1.0 914609 and vCenter 5.1.0 947673.  It seems that Vcenter 5.1 be bugged.
