message permanently being delete and not showing up in deleted items

I have a use that is running win7 pro with office 2007 sp3 connected to exchnage 2007. For some reason certain messages are being permanently deleted from inbox and it is not showing up in deleted items. I checked outlook rules and there is no rule. I am lost as to why its happening.

Should I journal this mailbox within 2007 exchange server. if i journal, can i just journal for one mailbox?

thanks
Is your end goal to journal the emails OR to solve the deletion problem?

Journaling can be done per-mailbox database - so if you would want to journal a particular mailbox, you'll need to create a new mailbox database and then run cmdlet to enable journaling on it.

My ultimate solution is to solve the deletion problem, i was hoping to use journaling as a safety net.
If this is an important mailbox, yes then you can work with journaling.

Once set, work through step by step method of what I've written and see if it helps you.
