Certification tests

I wanted to know if any of the below certification tests require me to take a class, in order to be recognized as certified within that particular certification?

SY0-301  -- security plus comptia
CAS-001 : CompTIA Advanced Security Practitioner
ITIL : ITIL® V3 Foundation
CSSBB : Certified Six Sigma Black Belt
CISSP : Certified Information Systems Security Professional
312-50v7 : Ethical Hacking and Countermeasures (CEHv7)
312-50 : ECCouncil Certified Ethical Hacker
GSLC : GIAC Security Leadership

Most certifications only require that you pass their exam(s) and don't require actual coursework. That being said, some certs are difficult to attain without some class time. If you have some experience in this field, you should be able to do the Comptia ones without a class. I did the security+ by reading a couple of books.

I will normally get one large text book (from Sybex, Syngress, MS Press, etc) and the Exam Cram for the test. This gives similar material in different ways and in my opinion prepares you pretty well.

You should check the requirements for each cert on their web sites to make sure. CISSP requires some continuing learning credits that can be earned by attending ISSA meetings in your area.

ASKER

For the CISSP, can I take the exam at a Prometric or Vue center.  I attempted to sign up, but could not locate a center to take the test.
