Exchange 2003 still listing in directory

About 9 months ago, we upgraded from Exchange 03 to Exchange 2010.
03 was properly removed and has been offline since then.
On Exchange 2010, if I run the get-exchangeserver cmdlet, both exchange servers still appear.
I searched my AD and also DNS servers and no sign of the 2003 server.

1. Where does the cmdlet pull this information from? AD?
2.  Where else can I check to see if there is anything left over from Exchange 2003 that shouldnt be there?

I would simply run EXBPA and see whats the error for Exchange 2003 and work on them

1. Get-ExchangeServer pulls information from Configuration information in AD :)
2. You have to run through ADSIEDIT to remove any instances

ASKER

I finally found the old decommissioned 2003 Exchange server by going to:
> Start, point to Programs, point to Microsoft Exchange, and then click System Manager.
Expand Administrative Groups/Your_Administrative _Group_Name/Servers.
on my workstation.

The MS kb said I can delete it from here, but it could cause major problems? Is there any way I can verify if it would cause major problems before deleting it?
