Windows Server 2008 R2 DNS Zones DELETED

The domain.local AND the _msdcs.domain.local zones were both DELETED from the DNS server on our Windows 2008 R2 Standard server.

How can we re-create these DNS zones ASAP?

Try this:

ipconfig /registerdns

net stop netlogon
net start netlogon

Look if the  _msdcs folder re-appears.

If the whole domain.local zone is gone, recreate the zone and make it active directory integrated, then the _msdcs zone is also recreated.

The DNS server now looks like this... Is this normal? How can I get the subfolder back and why is the MSDCS grayed out?

You can create the domain.com zone you had before the msdcs folder will be listed under your new domain.com zone if you want to delegate the zone like you had before you could do this but it is not a requirement.
I am able to get to the Internet and resolve domain names. For some reason I cannot add a PC to the domain now. Any ideas?

Create the domain.com zone then this will create the msdcs folder which should allow you to have a working DNS
The MSDCS folder has been re-created. For some reason its all gray or ghosted out with only two records and no subfolders.
