Dell Perc 6/i raid controller, drive failure RAID 1

Hey guys & gals,

just had a drive failure on my exchange server, running RAID 1 on dell perc 6/i raid controller.

I use Dell openmanage server administrator to solve this issue by assigning a new hard drive as a hot spare in a seperate bay, but the failed drive is still in place. The RAID has already rebuilt, but I have no option to "offline" the failed drive.

At this point, would it be safe to just pull out the failed drive from the controller?

Yes, the drive is dead.

Dell, does not require offlining.  Pulling the failed drive and reinserting its replacement is all that is needed, the rebuild will start upon insertion.
