How do I set up Mail in Windows 8?

I am trying to set up Mail in Windows 8.   It asks for the name of a server.   When I set up mail in Outlook 2007 under Windows 7, I need to specify that my server requires authentication.   What name do I put in for the server in Windows 8 Mail?

What mail client are you talking about? The metro mail program? That would require a Microsoft account. Without having one, you can download windows live mail or thunderbird, or...
Windows Store Mail App
Doesn't always require a Microsoft Account.. It will work with Exchange, Gmail, and any other IMAP or Exchange server, it will not work with POP accounts though.

Hey, you're right, ve3ofa! Nice - but I had to use my windows live ID to get to the advanced settings screen. Could you do without?
Not sure.. I do use my microsoft account as my login though.. I think it may have to do with saving of the settings that require a microsoft account.

ASKER

I use Outlook to retrieve my e-mail messages.   The account in Outlook is a POP account.   Does this mean I cannot use Mail in Windows 8 to send and receive e-mail?   I am confused!
