NTFS folder permissions

I am setting up a new Network drive with the following folders.

J:\Admin
J:\Safety
J:\IT

I want all folder to be visible to all users who have access to J-drive, but since I am granting access via group membership I want to be able to deny access to folders where they have no specified permissions without specifically having to Deny Access using permissions.  Windows 2008 seems to simply remove the folder's visibility rather than displaying the folder but denying access.  I would love to have the old message back - "Access Denied" if a user without permissions trys to access it.  Is this still possible with Windows 2008 Server?
