Suitable Budget Router to Connect to Remote Cisco UC540 via VPN

Hi all,

My company has a Cisco UC540 unit as it's edge device/pbx/firewall and it works pretty well, I am in a remote office in a different country.

After a fair bit of research I invested in a Cisco SPA525G2 5-Line IP Phone which is *supposed* to be able to connect via VPN to a remote UC540 but it's just useless and from what I read, required so much command line work on both the phone and the UC540 it was practically re-programming it (and it also restricted what could be done with the VPN on the UC540).

Right now my computer connects to the office via the Cisco VPN Client (Version 5) and I have a soft-phone that connects to the PBX (Cisco IP Communicator) - this works pretty well but requires my computer be booted, etc.

I'd like to know if there is a fairly inexpensive router I can buy that can connect to the VPN on the UC540 instead of my computer, I can then plug my computer and my Cisco IP phone in to it.

Any help is much appreciated!

Bob

ASKER

Hi guys,

Sorry for the delay - I've been in transit for the past few days.

I'm afraid these are way over my budget - do you know if any non-Cisco routers might do the trick?

Thanks again for your help
