Create VLAN with cascaded switches

I've been tasked with creating a VLAN'd network that would have multiple switches.

I need some help choosing equipment and understanding the setup. I'd like to have a single smart/managed switch as the base of the network then:
- port 2 VLAN ID 2 - connected to another 24 port switch on port 1 ( 10.0.2.1 )
- port 3 VLAN ID 3 - connected to another 24 port switch on port 1 ( 10.0.3.1 )

my question is this - is it possible to setup the switch to send all network traffic to the next switch in line ( internet, VOIP, DHCP, etc. ) and will that switch act as a normal ( non VLAN ) to all other devices plugged into ports 2-24? ie. will all devices plugged in to the secondary switch automatically inherit the VLAN network from the original switch.

Secondly how many switches can I cascade this through?

Thanks all.

With modern hardware, you can pretty much do it indefinitely.  As a practical matter, you'll end up segmenting your network via routers long before you reach any kind of technical limitation.
