Remote Office AD site?

Hello,

Ive been searching for an answer to this for a while and have come up empty. Currently we have a branch location (within 4 miles) that is setup with a hardware VPN back to the main office. I do not have a site/subnet created in ADSS for this branch (its a warehouse with about 6 users) nor is there a DC or server of any kind there. We have to make host file entries in each machine there to our servers for DNS and none of there PC's there are domain members. There were issues with authentication and instability when we attempted this.

If I created a site/subnet for the remote location in ADSS, with no DC at the remote location, would we be able to join those pc's to the domain and have DNS function normally with no host file entries? If so, what should the DHCP server (Sonicwall) hand out for DNS servers to clients? Is there a way to use the ISP's DNS for everything except lan resources?

Thank you.
