vmWare vCloud Director HELP

Need help in understanding concepts, and hopefully some "beginner" type links.

I am a programmer (VB .net); however, I am a TOTAL newbie concerning vmWare....

We are taking my firm to the cloud...  moving all mission critical applications...

we are an accounting firm...  will be moving tax software/fixed asset software/write up software/Time and billing software/etc.

I have been given adminstrative rights to the vCloud Director.  Our service provider is Earthlink.

I have already set up a few users....  seemed simple enough; however, the terminology, and processes escape me.  I have downloaded a provided User's guide; however, was very high level, AND it ASSUMED to  much prior knowledge.  The user's guide did nothing but throughly confuse me.

I am struggling with concepts that I see such as:  Catalogs (Public and looks like a "Private"), Media, vApps, vTemplates.

There are what appears to be MULTIPLE operating systems in the Public catalog...  maybe for me to chose one... and somehow install????

I have attached a PDF with three screen shoots...  Please ignore page 4, it's truly blank.  Hopefully this will give someone a starting point to offer helpful "concepts" info, and some useful links, or books to purchase, that will get me going in the right direction.

any and all help is very much appreciated...  I have to have this accomplished prior to the beginning of our obvious busy season....  1/2013!

Thanks again!

You have ISOs (OS media) which allows you to install Virtual Machines, with an OS you select.

and Templates which are pre-defined Virtual Machines, which you can deploy.

Just a little more info....  to get started....  would I just select the operating system shown in one of my PDF pages????....  install...  and then create a virtual machine..????  Or create the virtual machine first, and then install....???

Does each user have a virtual machine...???  I don't thnk so...  Is the virtual machine the equivalent of my current server????

As you can see, I am totally clueless....  I followed your link....  I seen the additional link there to the vmWare documentation...  I've already been to that site...

If you could just give me maybe the steps I should follow to set up the virtual server, get apps installed on the virtual server it would be most appreciated....

Thanks again for putting up with such basic questions.
