Web Server Failover

Hello,

We were wondering what the standard approach is for setting up a failover web hosting server.

We have a primary webserver that is beefed up to cater for all our traffic needs and smaller secondary web server mainly used as a staging server but is also capable of perfoming as a backup server for short periods of time until we get the primary server backup.

We were wondering how we would setup our name servers to automatically switchover should the primary server fail. Should we set primary server as ns1.nameserver.com and the backup as ns2.nameserver.com?

Thanks.
