Users Mailbox not removed

Exchange Server 2007 R2 Enterprise 64 Bit
Windows 2003 R2 Standard 64 bit

Trying to remove email accounts and retaining the active directory account.

So in the EMC  --- Receipient Configuration -- Mailbox
Select user to remove and I chose "DISABLE"
This removed the mailbox from the list.
The user account is still active in AD so far so good.
The user's email mailbox is NOT in the disconnected Mailbox list.

So I ran this from the EMS

[PS] C:\>get-mailboxstatistics -database "mailbox database" | fl displayname, dis
connectdate,mailboxguid

DisplayName    : SystemMailbox
DisconnectDate :
MailboxGuid    : f9aa9a02-588a-44fe-ba2e-e18bbd080a18

DisplayName    : Test User1
DisconnectDate :
MailboxGuid    : b53a020e-9b7d-4a6a-a650-42dc25d85b5e

DisplayName    : Remove User1
DisconnectDate :
MailboxGuid    : 596aec43-245a-42e5-9c8e-342e7f09bb89

DisplayName    :  Remove User2
DisconnectDate :
MailboxGuid    : 6797af45-f798-4af6-81dc-ebda4544fb41

DisplayName    : TEST 003
DisconnectDate :
MailboxGuid    : f3a67751-4d1b-4ef9-b2a3-7ce541dc3f7c

The Remove User1 and Remove User 2 still show up in the report.

Any idea on why they are still showing in the database?

I run other reports against the database regulary and they both are showing up in those reports also.

Any thoughts?

Thanks Tom

Those doc links was for Exchange Server 2010 but it did lead me to the exchange 2007 command.
Remove-StoreMailbox is not valid on Exchange 2007 that is an Exchange 2010 Feature.

the following works on Exchange 2007
Get list of all disconnected mailboxes in powershell with below command.

$DisMailboxes = Get-MailboxStatistics | where-object { $_.DisconnectDate -ne $null } | Select DisplayName, MailboxGuid

Remove all disconnected mailboxes with below commands.
$DisMailboxes | ForEach { Remove-Mailbox -Database "Mailbox Database" -StoreMailboxIdentity $_.MailboxGuid }
