Microsoft Access 2007/2010 link to encrypted sql server database

What is the quickest and easiest way to connect an Access database to an encrypted sql server database, and as I only use MS Access and SQL Server what is the best method of encryption to use on the SQL server to create a secure system using these two apps.

Being new to encryption I believe there are differences between database encryption, file encryption etc, may need certificates? and have also seen articles about encrypting the connection (ssl?) not the db.

I have many Access dbs linking through ODBC to sql server so am happy with the way that works but I am looking into being able to brand my solutions as being secure, without too much effort.

Or are there other ways I have not considered?

It depends on your Version and Edition of SQL Server.  For example if you have at least SQL Server 2008 with the Enterprise Edition I would recommend you look into use TDE.

ASKER

Generally my end users do not use Enterprise, all are 2008 or Express 2008
