Macbook Pro won't boot

Macbook Pro won't boot (OS X 10.6)
It was working fine the night before, now when I push the start button, the power light on the front that is slightly left of center comes on (and remains on) and a short disk drive noise is heard and then nothing. I tried removing and reinstalling the battery, but this had no effect. The battery shows 5 green leds when installed. I tried powering on while holding down the shift key, no difference. I tried powering on while holding the T key, no difference.

What else can I try?

I do have another Mac, but firewire cable, sheesh, I'll have to go back to 1990 to find one.
Stay tuned ...
I tried resetting the SMU. nothing. So I took it into a local mac shop. The logic board (ie motherboard) is shot.
