Exchange 2010 - Transport Rules

Hello,

When a user sets a transport rule to forward/redirect an e-mail to a specific mail address (i.e. xx@gmail.com) and a xx@gmail.com sends a mail to the exchange users that mail is not forwarded or redirected to xx@gmail.com. However, mails sent from other addresses are redirected/forwarded to xx@gmail.com.

Is this an error or just a precaution to prevent looping when the other address also sets a forwarding to exchange mailbox?

Thanks,
Oner

Sorry, I'm little bit confuse with your question. Could you explain more details? Give scenario for better understanding?

I have never heard but its a good thing to check.

Also not sure if you want all emails to a user to be Forwarded to xx@gmail.com ... why are you creating a Forwarded why not simply forwarding on the mailbox ?

Let me try to clarify the scenario,

1. User creates a rule for the inbox via OWA to redirect all mails to xx@gmail.com

2. User sends a mail from yahoo to exchange account
3. Exchange stores the mail in inbox and forwards the mail to xx@gmail.com

4. User sends a mail from xx@gmail.com to exchange account
5. Exchange stores the mail in inbox but does not forward the mail to xx@gmail.com

One of the users has specific requirement to forward all e-mails to external address for a mobile client. In order to provide the user with the flexibility to change the e-mail address without intervention, inbox rules were preferred.

Thanks,
Oner

Could you please test the same scenario in different installation. This would be highly appreciated.

One of the users has specific requirement to forward all e-mails to external address for a mobile client.  Just trying to learn whether this was the expected behaviour.

Thanks for the responses.
