How to install Virtual Machine on windows 7

I want to install Hadoop and Hive. I do not have access to a Linux server. I have a Windows 7 PC. According the the Programming Hive book:

"There are several ways you can install Hadoop and Hive. An easy way to install a complete
Hadoop system, including Hive, is to download a preconfigured virtual machine
(VM) that runs in VMWare*1 or VirtualBox*2. For VMWare, either VMWare
Player for Windows and Linux (free) or VMWare Fusion for Mac OS X (inexpensive)
can be used. VirtualBox is free for all these platforms, and also Solaris."
1.http://vmware.com
2.https://www.virtualbox.org

Could you please help me locate the preconfigured virtual machine software from the above site(s). I never used virual machines. Thanks a lot.

Thank you.

The first link (vmware player) seems to need no licenses. The second link (vmware desktop) seems to need license and not for the development use.

Under the first link:
https://my.vmware.com/web/vmware/free#desktop_end_user_computing/vmware_player/5_0|PLAYER-501|product_downloads

There are 6 choices (VMware-player-5.0.1-894247.exe , VMware-Player-5.0.1-894247.i386.bundle, etc). I want to, I guess, get a Linux OS environment to install Hadoop. My PC is Windows 7 (64 bit). There are details under the 6 bundles but could you let me know which one could be the right one.

Thank you.
use virtualbox its free, i use this to run multiple OS's

Thank you all. Thanks a lot. I installed  vmware player via the link at https://my.vmware.com/web/vmware/free#desktop_end_user_computing/vmware_player/5_0|PLAYER-501|product_downloads (1st item in among the choices).
SO it installed VMWare Player.
Thank you.
