LAN Problems

I have a laptop running Vista Home  and a Desktop running Win 7 Home. I am having trouble networking the two as neither computer recognises the other one - I am trying to set up a shared wireless printer without success.

Consider adding a wireless router to network the  devices. You may assign a static IP address to the printer.
Each pc can print to the network printer.
If more devices are required a switch is added to the network..
I would not set the printer up wireless IF you can set it up with ethernet.  That just makes life a lot simpler and things will work better in general.

You didn't say how all these things are networked.  Wired or wireless?
Wired, as above, is best.
