Android taking pictures with the correct orientation

I am using Mono for Android and invoking the Camera activity to take photographs which are then uploaded to the server.

The problem I am having is with the orientation of the pictures.  If the phone is in landscape mode then the picture is correct however if the photograph is taken while in portrait more the picture is on its side.  Is it possible to detect / handle the orientation of the device to ensure that photographs taken are correctly orientated?

Pointed me in the right direction - the camera does return its orientation if you can find it which I can then use to rotate the pictures
