SBS2011 POP3 Connector Schedule Adjustment

User generated imageHi,

I understand that 5 minutes is shortest internal of retrieval by default.
I also used MAPI Lab POP3 Connector products .. and it works well.
But is there anyway that I can edit this value (5 Minutes) to 1 or 2 minutes in registry and somehow make it work?
If there is no other solution, then I will probably purchase MAPI Lab POP3 Connector for exchange 2010.

Thanks

They never had a server system before. So natually they have been using POP email service. I have installed SBS2011 for them recently.
I knew I could use SBS2011 to send/received emails directly, but then you start thinking about "what if your server crashes" or "the office loose electricity" , or other possibilities, then paying someone a few dollars a month for email hosting is not a bad idea.
If your current mail host provides email filtering (spam), then that's fair enough, but if not, then you may end up with more unwanted email as a result.

You can always have 2 MX records.  One with a lower priority pointing to your SBS server and the other with a higher priority pointing to your 3rd party mail host.  That way you have the best of both worlds.

Current mail host provides filtering (spam).
I personally use SBS2011 to send/receive email directly and my outlook is filled with so many JUNK mail and that is another reason I prefer to pay for the service.
If that is the case "my outlook is filled with so many JUNK mail", then you might want to consider trialling Vamsoft ORF which should get rid of most of it for you for a very reasonable price.

We use it and I get about 1 spam email a month.
The other option is a hardware UTM. They are cheap these days.
Olaf
Hardware is an option but you will usually have to pay an annual renewal fee to maintain the service. ORF doesn't need renewing and will keep working beyond the first year without being renewed, potentially making it a much cheaper product long term.

I know there is no "FREE" in this world whether it is software or hardware.
Since I know I don't have much option with SBS2011 POP3 Connector, I will add a POP account in each user's OUTLOOK or purchase MAPI POP3 Connector that I am familiar with.

Thank you for your help.
Good luck.

At least I gave you a workable answer?
sglee - Did you mean to accept just my comment as the solution, as your closing comment suggests that you may be implementing the solution by olafdc, so at the very least I would have thought some points would be given to him, either exclusively or partially?

My original question was "if I can edit this value (5 Minutes) to 1 or 2 minutes in registry and somehow make it work".
You said "No". That really was the answer to my question.
I appreciate all other suggestions, but I knew of those options.

I would love to give points to olafdc ... how can I reopen this to re-award points?
No problems.

Let me re-open it for you.

Thank you Alan and sglee.
You are welcome.
